Michael Burry is the founder of the Scion Capital LLC hedge fund that he ran from 2000 until 2008. He subsequently closed to focus on his own personal investments. Burry was one of the first investors in the world to recognize and invest in the impending subprime mortgage crisis. Burry is a key individual in The Big Short.
The Big Short by Michael Lewis features stories of the individuals involved with the “investments” around the US housing market, the CDO/CDS instruments and sub-prime lending practices that led to the the 07/08 financial crisis. Michael Burry was among the first to recognize the issues and establish contrarian/value investing positions.
